∅ 001 [ video ]
[ The video feed flickers on to show a young man dressed in white and blue. The background seems to be a town - probably New Bark Town, judging from the buildings. (He's sitting a little too far away from the screen, with his hands on his lap in a rather formal posture.)
The youth squints slightly for a moment, though a good fifteen seconds pass before he says anything. ]
... Hello. I hope this is transmitting properly? [ His voice is surprisingly quiet, just loud enough for the viewer to hear.
There is another pause before he continues. ] I wish to ask if anyone here knows of the Eastern Kingdom of Mikado, or Tokyo. 'Tis my homeland, and there may be others who ended up here...
[ He looks away from the screen briefly before returning his attention to the screen. ]
... I suppose it is customary to give my name alongside such a request. I am Flynn. I believe this device is able to receive incoming calls...? [ Pause. ] Yes. It does.
Please contact me here if you have any news. Thank you.
[ Flynn bows slightly to the viewer before the feed cuts to black. ]

[video] kind of a placeholder
Flynn! Hoy, brother, it's been too long!
no subject
'so long', though? Ah yes, defeating Sanat took time. He still wasn't sure how this worked. ]
Walter.
no subject
You'll hardly believe - after all we've seen, you'll hardly believe there's anything left to disbelieve, but mark me, Flynn, have I ever a spectacle for you. Are you well?
no subject
[ He tilts his head a little. It was good to see Walter again - and from the looks of it, the other samurai has been here a while. It would be easier to get information and become acclimatized, then.
He looks thoughtful for a moment. ]
Where is this land, Walter? The demons here are unfamiliar.

[ Flynn closed his eyes for a few moments before he replies. ]
So you are close by? [ This was indeed a stroke of luck. ] A rendezvous would be good.
[ He attempts a chuckle, though it comes out more as a half-sigh. ]
no subject
[...he's actually doing it. HOPE YOU CAN BURN...NINE HOURS...DOING SOMETHING...]
no subject
Alright. [ Pause. ] But before that. I have a question.
[ He holds up the small red-and-white ball that was in his backpack. ]
This holds... a Pokemon, right? What am I to do with it?
no subject
It's your means of defense, not too unlike a demon. Past that, whatever you will. Speak to it, if you wish, they're clever creatures.
[alright.]
I can't talk while I'm traveling, but we'll see each other soon.
no subject
... though he had no idea how to address it. If it was even an 'it'. Demons were perfectly fine with belting out their names. Oh well... he'll have to figure it out somehow. ]
Sure. Have a safe trip.
[ His words are casual, almost as an afterthought. ]
[action time]
Flashy!
He doesn't spare a moment after Edgar drops him, leaving the Volcarona out like a fiery beacon hovering over him as he sets out to find Flynn. And:]
HOY, FLYNN!
[...hopefully nobody in town is trying to sleep, because he's yelling.]
no subject
He smiles when Walter shouts his name, and waves to the other samurai. Though he only speaks when they are within hearing distance - he isn't used to raising his voice, after all. ]
Hello, Walter.
no subject
...but no, he'll address that later. Right now he's just happy to see his best friend from home, the person he admires and who committed treason with him (though that hardly sounds admirable out of context), who he feared for months that he'd dragged into death with him. Trepidation later. Celebration now.
Walter beams and marches up to him, wasting no time in reaching out and clapping his hands over Flynn's shoulders.]
You're a sight for sore eyes. Welcome to Johto, brother.
no subject
Rather selfishly, he had wished for his only friends to remain by his side - against the White's decree, perhaps, but he supposes that even a Messiah is eligible for leeway.
He gives Walter a nod, still smiling. ] Thank you.
[ He falls silent for a moment, unsure of what to say next. ]
I'm glad you survived.
[ He doesn't mention what. ]
no subject
[YEAH SURE LET'S...GO WITH THAT...]
Ah - by no effort of my own, I have to admit - this place is very forgiving. I've been here months, since the last autumn. [And it's clearly summer now.]
[Walter releases Flynn before the shoulder-holding gets awkward, stepping aside and seating himself on that bench with a motion to his friend to join him. He needs a minute to talk before whirlwinding off to the next leg of the trip.]
Isabeau arrived only a week ago. She'd readied to travel with me and with a friend I've made here, from the next town over. We can be joined up in three days' time.

Flynn frowns vaguely, but the expression is wiped off his face in an instant. There are some things not quite right about this timeline so far - but then again, given what the White pulled, at this point anything was possible.
He follows Walter to the bench and sits down, listening patiently. ]
Alright then.
no subject
I'll begin with the practicalities, I suppose. Have you yet seen the Pokemon you were given?
no subject
Figures that Walter would probably ask to see it, if he had answered in the affirmative. ]
It will not tell me its name. [ Most demons would give a full-on introduction, and perhaps some small talk. This one just... stared at him a lot. ]
no subject
"Absol. Disaster Pokemon. Dark-type. It appears when it senses an impending natural disaster. As a result, it was mistaken as a doom bringer."]
There you have it. [Creepy.]
no subject
What do I do with Absol? [ Presumably that was its name?
The Absol simply regards the two youths with something similar to an eyeroll. ]
no subject
[He raises his arms for a moment, indicating their surroundings before quickly dropping them again and shoving his hands in his pockets.]
...I'm still working out how to make the best of it.
no subject
Lilith's paradise, huh... Most curious...
His gaze shifts to Absol, and the Pokemon returns it (albeit with signs of boredom). It holds the link for a few more seconds before turning to say something to Orthrus. ]
Are humans usually this dumb?
[ Flynn simply nods at Walter's second statement. ]
no subject
[He takes a half-step back and shrugs a shoulder towards the west end of town.]
[Orthrus grins. Give 'em a chance, he woofs to Absol as he leans back - then drops into a playful crouch, wiggling. They're real interesting, trust me.
He jumps and spins, crowding up to Walter's side with an affirmative bark of "Hence!"]
no subject
But it's not as if Flynn has any desire to object nor quench his friend's enthusiasm. ] Sure.
[ Absol tilts its head, regarding Orthrus with a doubtful glance. This one hasn't said anything for hours. He doesn't even call me by any specific name.
She padded over to Flynn's side a few seconds after the Houndoom joined Walter. Maybe he's just... slow. ]
